“Alex creates the perfect supportive space to explore. While she doesn't let me get away with ANYTHING in our lessons, she's so warm and nonjudgemental I feel empowered to try new things and grow.”
-Kira Dills-Desurra, Operatic Mezzo-Soprano
“Alex is a fantastic teacher for a beginner of any age. She adjusts her teaching to your natural abilities and is also very nurturing in the process. In a few weeks my vocal technique really improved!”
-Crystal Manich, Stage Director & Filmmaker
Alexandra offers a holistic approach to voice instruction. Her process-oriented teaching style gives students room to learn at their own pace, get to know their own instruments, and discover their authentic voices.
Her students range from absolute beginners to established professionals. No matter the level, she teaches them how to use their voices healthfully and with ease, whether they’re working through complex operatic arias or learning to match pitch. Her studio is a safe place to experiment with technique, repertoire, and interpretation – freed from perfectionism and judgment, her students are able to make all kinds of sounds in order to discover the ones that work best for them.
Alexandra developed her vocal expertise through performing leading operatic roles across the United States and Canada. Alongside her performance career, she is an active educator, regularly appearing on panels and giving masterclasses for opera companies, young artist programs, and graduate schools. Notable teaching appointments include serving as a vocal coach for The Glimmerglass Festival’s Young Artist Program during the 2022 season and joining the University of Southern California as a full-time voice faculty member for the Spring 2026 semester. She continues to study regularly with her own teacher, firmly believing that learning to sing is a lifelong pursuit. Her studio is based in Chicago with virtual instruction available, allowing her to work with students across the country and around the world. She is deeply committed to helping singers learn, grow, and sing from the heart.
